CRUISERS THAT CARE SHOW - Ironbridge Sports Park - March 12, 2011

On March 12, 2011 our Car Club was asked to help out with a car show at the Ironbridge Sports Park. We had 17 members and 12 cars present at the show and we helped out with the parking, judging, music, and announcements. We had a great day for an event like this as the weather was almost perfect. With 5 members of our club working with the music set up and 5 members working with parking, what a task that these guys had in front of them, with over 200 cars in a parking lot only big enough for 100 cars! We also had some judging jobs that were filled for this event with 8 of our members pitching in and helping out. Our club handed out flyers for our own shows and cruise-ins while we handled the music and announcements. We also had 2 of our members take the pictures of the day, and help me with the music. 2 or 3 members came out and just enjoyed the afternoon and wished everyone well.

By the end of the day, we had a lot to be thankful for as we helped to raise over $10,000.00 for this young man who needs a bone marrow transplant. All of us set back after the day, with the music still playing, watching as the field of cars loaded up and left. I am very proud of the job that our club members did on this day of need for this family. John Frye and his whole crew of workers did an outstanding job for Dalton Hayes, the fellow with the medical needs. Our club did not pick up any awards at the show except for the feeling  you get when you can present a $10,000 to a young man that will make a big difference in his life!  That is award enough for me!

Thanks OBGCC for all that you did on this day.

SHAMROCK CAR SHOW - Nags Head, NC  March 18-20, 2011

The Oldies But Goodies Classic Cruisers had a very busy weekend over March 18th through the 20th. We had 6 cars and 12 members go to The Shamrock Car Show in Nags Head, North Carolina. Friday brought out even more fun as the First Flight Cruisers had their cruise-in at the Hooters Restaurant in Kitty Hawk. The hospitality of this club was outstanding with the kick-off party and cruise-in being free to all registered car show participants. The First Flight Cruisers even brought out a band to play at the cruise-in.  There was a buffet for dinner, a live band, and classics and stylish cars. What else could you want?

On Saturday morning, we arrived at the show about 8:00 am to beat the crowds. By 10:00 am, the lot was filling fast as this car club had everything going its way. By 11:30 am, there were over 250 cars and cars were still coming. At the end of the day, Bob and Jane Jones won First Place with their 38 Chevy Truck, Tom and Joann Stalnaker won First place in their 79 Camaro,  Timmy Herald and Mary Sutherland won First Place in their 73 Challenger, and Barry and Denise Harrison won First Place in their 2007 Mustang. For the 2nd year, The Oldies But Goodies teamed up with the Keystone Tractor Works Museum to have the Keystone Tractor Kar Show Classic. The weather was supposed to be bad for the show. Keith Jones and the staff at the Museum decided to move the show inside.  So here the table is set for another good show!  We filled the show floor with cars, trucks and antique fire trucks. We also had vendors and of coarse the band Littlerock. We packed the house with spectators to see the cars and antique tractors as well as listening to the band and our own club’s music presented by Danny and Debbie Herald. It was a great day and as it would have it, the weather held off from raining until later in the afternoon so everything turned out well for getting the cars off of the show floor at the end of the day. Special thanks go to the Staff at the Tractor Museum and Keith Jones for working with us for this show. CHRISTMAS IN OCTOBER SHOW, COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA. - October 22nd

On behalf of all of the members of the The Oldies But Goodies Classic Cruisers,  we are very grateful for the outstanding turn out for our Christmas In September (October) Car, Truck, and Bike Show.  Despite it being postponed in September because of the weather, everyone rebounded to make the show a great success.  This includes our participants who helped us raise over $4,000 for the local charities we support.  As it turned out, the weather was in the mid-sixties and sunny, which is always better than sitting on asphalt in 95 degrees.  We had over 95 cars on the lot at the Keystone Tractor Works Museum in Colonial Heights, Virginia.   We expect this show to grow bigger and bigger as our new location proved to be an outstanding venue for the event.  A very BIG THANKS goes out to Keith Jones, Bones and the rest of the staff at the Keystone Tractor Works Museum for all of their help in putting this show on.  Super job!!

From hamburgers and hot dogs, to auction items, to outstanding entertainment by Little Rock, we couldn’t have done it any better.  Every bit of the day was executed to perfection from registration right through the awards ceremony.  A special thanks to John for helping with the auction and a great big thanks to the eight car clubs that were represented at the show.   We had car, trucks, bikes and smaller scooters along with great representation from the Corvette and Viper Clubs.  These clubs have been a part of the OBGCC Tradition for a long time and we really appreciate their participation.

And last but certainly not least, thanks to all the members of The Oldies But Goodies Classic Cruisers for their hard work. The members who put this show together, not once but twice, really did a fantastic job.

CONGRATULATIONS OBGCC ON ANOTHER JOB WELL DONE!

GOODGUYS HOT ROD CAR SHOW - CHARLOTTE, NC - October 28 - 30, 2011

On the weekend of October 28th thru 30, our car club had several members go to Lowes Motor speedway for the Goodguys Hot Rod Car Show. We had about 10 members come for the activities with 6 members bringing cars. We really had a good car club turnout. It is great to see the club do these types of thing together. The weather actually was great Thursday when we got to Charlotte. The temperatures were in the upper sixties and pretty weather.  Tom and Joann had a blow out on there motorhome, but we all made it to Charlotte safely. We set up and went to registration and then came back for a evening of good cooking out and socializing. Friday the temperature started dropping and drizzle moved in. We took off to the Street Side Classic Consignments and looked at a few hot rods that were for sale.

Friday evening the weather turned rotten with rain and wind and more rain. Saturday was wet but no rain. The weather did not work with the Goodguys show this year as it was about 45 degrees and damp. The sun did come out in the afternoon which made it nicer. Most of us took to the track for the Track tour. Even Bob’s 38 Chevy Truck took to the track. I believe everyone had a good time at the show despite the weather.
I think everyone is looking forward to next year at Charlotte. I know I am.

Enjoy the Charlotte Goodguys Car Show Pictures.
